The Goal

ApeFest is a first-of-its-kind crypto event hosted annually by Yuga Labs for their Bored Ape Yacht Club members. The event has been growing in popularity since it launched in 2021. Organizers partnered with our team at Stratoscope to develop the overall security posture for the event. Due to the high visibility of this event at Pier 17 in NYC and the known BAYC antagonists, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to roll out our new system intelligence monitoring system powered by our team of expert analysts.

The Challenge

Prior to our engagement, the event needed a defined security posture and was relying on the production company and venue to determine all needs. Once engaging our team, we identified the challenges they would be facing while endeavoring to put on a great event and experience for their members. These challenges included ingress with a number of access types and limited space and a desire to reduce queueing and wait times for the entry process including guest screening. Credible reputational risks from persons of interest, rival NFT company flash mob, and possible ‘tagging’ of the company brand created a need to set new standards for the event, guests’ safety, and company brand protection. Among the long list of guests were several A-List celebrities and performances by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Questlove, so not only was our team tasked with protecting all NFT-owning attendees but also managing all aspects of VIP celebrities as well.

The Services

  •  Ingress design (screening + ticket scanning)
  • Weapons detection design & delivery
  • Security staff management
  • Intel monitoring
  • Talent security coordination
  • OPS Center w/ video surveillance

 The Results

We successfully deployed our new intel monitoring service—which includes real-time reports from a dedicated expert analyst—and introduced weapons detection for the first time at ApeFest on Pier 17. We tracked persons of interest and took appropriate action to keep the event safe for all attendees and organizers. When the flash mob from a rival NFT company showed up 15 minutes prior to ApeFest, our team was prepared and quickly moved to break up the disruption. With our experience and tech, we merged intel monitoring with on-site initiatives to keep the client well-informed and at ease every step of the way.
